Resin vs Filament: Which 3D Printing Technology Suits Your Product?
A plain-English comparison of detail, strength, cost and durability so you can choose with confidence.

Resin printing wins on detail. At 25 microns it captures eyelashes, fabric weave and jewellery. It is the right choice for any display piece where likeness matters.
Filament printing wins on toughness. PLA+, PETG and ASA survive being dropped, chewed on and left in the sun — which is exactly what happens to children's toys.
Cost tracks with volume: resin is more expensive per gram, filament is cheaper for large solid parts. A 30 cm display piece is usually printed hollow in resin, then weighted.
For outdoor nameplates and planters we default to ASA, which resists UV yellowing far better than PLA.
If you are unsure, send us the use case rather than the material. We will recommend the technology that will still look good in five years.
